The typewriter is an object whose clatter lulled me to sleep when I was a child - the sound came from the next room, where, amidst the stacks of books, Father laboriously, with two fingers, tapped out his own.
Only growing up did I discover that the typewriter was a feminine attribute - countless shorthand secretaries scrolled before me on the TV screen (including, of course - the immortal Miss Moneypenny).
Even later, it occurred to me that the typewriter was not only an attribute of emancipation, but also a source of discrimination against women in the workplace.
It reached bosses, CEOs and managers, on the other hand, much more quickly that once a woman puts her heel in the office, she will not stop at being "elegant, submissive, with good taste, polite, professional" ...and low-paid.
It doesn't take a Fairy Godmother to transform herself from Cinderella to a Revolutionary. Who would want a prince when you can have a partner?
